They are sensitive to different atmospheres, absorb knowledge like blotting paper and have a great memory rarely forgetting anything.

Your Cancer baby will be quite happy to meet your friends and their babies and family. They'll enjoy being admired but watch your babies eyes follow you around the room, your Cancer baby needs to make sure that you're still there for them. Secretly other people will probably think your baby is too clingy and yes you agree he or she is a little, and later you'll have to teach your Cancer child that they can't cling on to everything forever.  It's not just you that your baby will cling onto, it's that teddy bear, Blankie, the dog or that friend. When they cling, they really cling. Have you ever seen a crab nip someone’s toe and hang on? You get the idea.

Letting go is a very hard lesson for Cancer to learn so it's important for you to start the lessons early! When your Cancer baby is playing with other babies and you see him or her clinging onto that toy for dear life, point out that he or she must share. Sharing appeals to their kind nature and Cancers are naturally kind and helpful.

Cancers are also incredibly friendly and love nothing more than to mother people and will instinctively mother other children, the cat, you, even their toys. They are happy to play alone and you may even find them building a home from the sheets from the linen cupboard.

Cancers are usually very artistic, they have a brilliant imagination, they love painting and absolutely adore music to suit their mood again so true in my case. In fact you can change a Cancers mood by just changing the c.d. or radio station.

They have a fascination for history and stories of times gone by, they can imagine themselves back there so true my mum is also one and we often call her a gypsy. Their imagination will serve them well throughout their lives but it can on  occasion have draw backs .

The Cancer baby is often afraid of the dark, of thunderstorms and loud noises, of big animals, bright lights, and strange new things or people. As they get older you will probably have to build up their confidence so they can conquer their fears.
From a very early age the Cancer will start to collect things along the way, it could be anything… it might be coins, as money is very important to them as it means security, or it might be dolls. Then again it might be bottle tops or Lego’s; the collection will be put away somewhere and never thrown out.

Your Cancer will enjoy school, but like the crab when young their shell is soft and vulnerable, they're easily hurt and sometimes imagine hurts that aren't there. They hate being teased and if they feel rejected in any way they instantly retreat back into the corner or into themselves. So you’re going to have to help your little crab toughen up their outer shell or they could end up feeling even more insecure. BUT…Cancers are so friendly and will soon make friends those of whom may last a life time; they have a lovely sense of humor and an infectious laugh.

Take your baby swimming as soon as possible he or she feels safe in water. At night after their bath give them a milky drink, they love milk like they love water.

Your baby can always pick up your mood and you with theirs but, your Cancer baby can make atmosphere when they are happy the whole house is happy but when they are down - watch out!
